Kriv Naicker, NZ IoT Alliance Executive Director, will provide an update on the NZ IoT Alliance and the current Working Groups.

Christian W Probst will be presenting “Security analysis of IoT systems”
Our everyday life is filled with Internet-connected things that talk to each other, share data, and require updates. The risk of adding a new component to an IoT system is hard to measure, and often difficult to assess over time. We will discuss an approach to perform a security analysis of IoT systems that estimates this risk, and helps understanding the effect of attacks.

Habib Baluwala and Paulo Almeida will present “IoT at the Edge : Where is the “Edge” in Edge IoT?”
IoT is taking almost every industry by storm. This large amount of data brings some challenges, among them, the ability to process the data. Cloud computing might not be the ideal solution due to various issues, latency, high costs of ingestion and data privacy. However, there is a solution that can tackle these challenges – Edge computing. Edge computing pushes generation, collection, and analysis out to the point of origin, the IoT devices and sensors, as opposed to a data centre or cloud. We will provide an introduction on edge computing, highlight various types and demo an application of edge computing.
